Where Does the Necessity of a Tire-Pressure Monitoring System Come From?

Tire-Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) are no longer a luxury added to certain vehicles. Though the systems were included in some luxury vehicles in the nineties, these systems were not considered essential for travel in and beyond U.S. locations like ours until 2000 when the TREAD Act passed as a federal mandate.

The Firestone recall of faulty tires in the late 1990s was the result of multiple tire failures that included over 100 deaths. The TREAD Act mandated all vehicles under five tons produced after 2007 include a TPMS. Statistics show that the Act has effectively reduced road accidents by warning drivers of tire inflation issues.

If your TPMS dash light comes on to indicate a tire-pressure issue, come to Precision Acura of Princeton for an immediate and thorough checkup of your TPMS. The safety of yourself, your family, and others on the road calls for your prompt attention on this issue.
